From October 1st 2021 nicotine vaping products will require a prescription from an Authorised Australian Prescriber. We have you covered.

New to Vaping

Fist time vaping? Not a problem at all. We're sure you've got questions, and luckily we've got answers. Keep scrolling for all the information you need.

What is a vape?

Vaping is pretty simple. Inside every e-cigarette is a coil, a tank and a battery. When you inhale a vape, the battery powers the coil, which heats the e-liquid in the tank, turning it into vapour. Unlike cigarettes, there’s no smoke or tobacco. E-liquid (or ‘juice’) is usually made from three things: propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin and food-grade flavouring. It can also contain nicotine.

In Australia, thanks to new legislation, you can only buy nicotine e-liquids with a prescription from a registered doctor. That’s where myduke™ comes in.

Our Process

What to look for?

Like anything, there are good vapes and bad vapes. Poor quality products are cheaply made, and usually contain chemical compounds like diacetyl and acetyl propionyl. Both of which can be harmful. We source all our products from VAPO, New Zealand’s most trusted e-liquids brand. All our vapes are manufactured in an ISO7 clean room and tested by an independent lab in Australia. If they weren’t the best vapes on the market, our doctors wouldn’t prescribe them.

Mouth to Lung vs Straight to Lung

Vaping comes in two basic categories. The first is Mouth to Lung, where vapour is drawn into the mouth, then pulled down into the lungs. The second is Straight to Lung, which has higher air flow and gets inhaled directly. If you’re transitioning away from cigarettes, we recommend starting with Mouth to Lung. It’s a bit gentler, and it better resembles the drag of a cigarette. Straight to Lung vapes have stronger flavour (and bigger clouds) but can be harsher on your throat.

Types of vapes

If you’re just getting into vaping, you’ll find there are a lot of products out there. Different devices, different coils, different liquids, salts and flavours. It can be a bit overwhelming. The ‘best’ vape is whatever you feel most comfortable with, but for people trying to quit smoking, we usually recommend a closed pod vape (like the alt. battery below). Pod vapes are like pod espresso machines: simply grab a pod, slip it into the battery, and start puffing. The other recommended option is a pen-style vape (like the VAPO Alpha Starter Pen). Vaping pens are refillable with e-liquid, so you can swap flavours and easily adjust the amount of nicotine. Both of these products will give you a familiar mouth-to-lung draw.

Nicotine levels

The beauty of vaping is that you can adjust and control your nicotine intake quite precisely. E-liquid includes a specific amount of nicotine (usually somewhere between 0mg and 18mg). How much nicotine you need will depend on a few factors, including your vape device and how many cigarettes you usually smoke. It’s something you should discuss with your doctor. Different vaping products also require different levels of nicotine. Straight to Lung vapes, for example, can be quite harsh with a high-strength dose.
